The Affiliate Payload Executive Summary

This is an executive summary of the eBook titled Affiliate Payload by Alex Goads. The book is 237 pages in length and is supplied as a PDF document; it contains many screenshots, along with a fair quantity of resource links.
The eBook is a cobbled together mixture of many forms of Internet Marketing, and is very difficult to summarise due to the large amount of variety found within its pages.
The author begins by talking about PPC to CPA traffic brokerage, the concept is that you can buy cheap PPC traffic, and send it to high conversion CPA offers. The author explains that this is a good form of marketing, as a CPA offer does not require the visitor to make a purchase for you to earn your commission, they merely need to fill in some details on a web based form or similar.
A whole section is presented, which teaches the reader how to lie their way through the CPA network application process, it is highly recommended that nobody follows this ell conceived advice.
The author proceeds to give a basic definition of PPC and introduces several useful resources for further learning:
Google Learning Centre - http://www.google.com/adwords/learningcenter/
Yahoo Search Marketing -  http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com
Microsoft AdCenter -  https://www.adcenter.microsoft.com/

An explanation is given of the goals we are aiming to achieve, by purchasing cheap traffic at one source and using it to drive visitors to a CPA offer, thus ending in profit. A simple formula is introduced, LRI-TOM which is an acronym for Locate, Research, Initiate Campaign, Tracking and Split Testing, Outsource, Move on.

The author discusses what to look for when choosing a CPA offer, and explains that the best type would have a good landing page, which would produce a higher conversion ratio. He also stresses that it is good to look for a landing page which carefully prompts the visitor in the action they are required to make.

Next the eBook moves on to the subject of keyword research, and teaches the reader how to analyse and research keywords using a variety of keyword analysis tools. The author introduces http://ww.freekeywords.wordtracker.com/ as a good free keyword analysis tool. It is also stipulated that the reader should use a control group of 200 clicks when testing PPC advertisements and that they should take care to monitor their click costs and set a sensible daily limit. Finally, the author introduces several more keyword analysis tools:

Google Keyword Tool - https://www.adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal/
WordTracker - http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/
Good Keywords - http://www.goodkeywords.com/
Once the keyword analysis section which is aimed at using keyword analysis tools is completed, the author moves on to demonstrate how other resources may be sued to plan and research a keyword campaign, by using the following resources:
Alexa - www.alexa.com
Quantcast - www.quantcast.com
Finally to complete the keyword analysis section of the eBook, the author discusses several advanced paid methods of gathering keyword data and intelligence which include:

WordTracker -  www.wordtracker.com
Keyword Elite -  www.keywordelite.com

The author progresses forward to talk about using 2nd tier search engines as a source of cheap traffic and gives a fairly good list of the best ones to use which are:

Miva – www.miva.com
Searchfeed – www.searchfeed.com
ABCSearch – www.abcsearch.com
7search – www.7search.com
Search123 – www.search123.com

A directory of 2nd tier search engines is also given, and can be found at: http://www.payperclicksearchengines.com/directory/

The keyword section is now complete, and the author begins to talk about tracking and split testing, he emphasises the point that effective monitoring of your campaigns is the most important factor. He explains how constant testing can reduce your advertising costs and increase your profits.

A process is defined that uses two separate landing pages to facilitate the split test, which will be rotated, and used to judge effectiveness of your campaign. A piece of software named AdTrackz is introduced and can be found at http://adtrackz.com/.

Considering how much the author stressed the importance of split testing and monitoring, this section is somewhat brief and fails to convey an element of understanding.

Even more brief is the section that covers outsourcing; the author suggests that once you have found an effective profit model, which you should outsource as much of the work possible, freeing your time to work on new projects. He suggests that you should automate as much as possible and move on to generating your next income stream.

The next chapter brings the idea of global hijacking to the fore, this is a technique that has been employed successfully in the past by many people, and basically involves seeking out forthcoming events that are likely to generate a lot of internet traffic, and build a readymade series of sites and offers, awaiting the flurry of internet activity that is due.

An example is given for the movie “Hancock”, whereby the author creates a web presence in advance of the box office opening, in anticipation of the fact that once the movie opens, there will be many more daily word searches. He then uses this traffic to fuel his CPA campaigns.  The author stresses that time should be taken to find good forthcoming events which can be exploited in this fashion, and gives the following list of resources site to use for research purposes:

Yahoo Buzz - http://buzz.yahoo.com/
Headline Spot - http://www.headlinespot.com/
Yahoo News - http://news.yahoo.com/
CNN - http://www.cnn.com/
Sky Showbiz – http://showbiz.sky.com/
Mr Paparazzi - http://www.mrpaparazzi.com/
An overall recipe for this technique is further defined by the author thus:

Find a global news or popular event.
Research and locate as many targeted keywords as possible that are related to the theme of your event.
Research your user demographic and select an appropriate CPA offer from your CPA networks that is easy to fill in and provides the user with some free gift that they will be interested in.
Create a suitable landing (you can also outsource this for peanuts) that offers the visitor an exciting poll or voting facility which relates to the theme of your event.
Create an eyeball capturing ad that you will use in your PPC search listings.
Start buying traffic from search engines and raking in the cash.
Rinse and repeat.

Following this chapter, the author briefly describes the use of PPV to get free traffic, he implies this is a super secret technique; it is nothing of the sort! He does give a good list of websites that can be used for PPV marketing:

http://mediatraffic.com/
http://www.trafficvance.com/
http://www.adonnetwork.com/
http://www.zango.com/
http://www.whenu.com

A set of Do’s and Don’ts are then given, regarding PPV best practice, which are not particularly well thought out or described. Several resources that can be used to help edit videos clips are also provided:

YouTube Catcher - http://www.youtubecatcher.com/
ConVid - http://www.convid.com/
View Watermark Factory - http://www.videowatermarkfactory.com/

By now the eBook is beginning to lose its focus quite badly, as the author presents new ideas and different concepts on each page, often jumping between them with no rhyme or reason.

EBay is briefly represented as an income stream, although not covered very well, and then we move on to discuss ways of gaining backlinks to a website. The following ways are discussed:

Forums Posting
Blog Posting
Article Submission

Article marketing is covered most fully, with a section about writing a good article, and a full section about long tail keywords. The following freelance sites are also listed for those people who do not wish to write the articles themselves.

eLance – http://www.elance.com/
RentACoder – http://www.rentacoder.com
GetAFreelancer – http://www.getafreelancer.com/

Two good article submission sites are also given:
eZineArticles – http://www.ezinearticles.com/
GoArticles – http://www.goarticles.com/

Press release writing is also presented as a possible addition to an article marketing campaign, although on a single press release site is mentioned:

Free Press Release – http://www.free-press-release.com/

Chapter 6 finds the author talking about opt-in mailing lists for use with an autoresponder, specifically the idea of co-registration, one site signing a visitor up to multiple lists; this is not ethical practice and should be avoided. Two good autoresponder services are mentioned:

AWeber – http://www.aweber.com/
GetResponse- http://www.getresponse.com/

A very weak chapter follows next which discusses the idea of creating a Facebook application and using it either as a viral marketing tool or selling it on. The author displays very little expertise in this section; it seems as if he simply pasted this in from another eBook to fill up space.

From here on, the eBook becomes almost unreadable, and is impossible to understand as the author hops all over the place, again this feels as if everything was pasted in at the last moment just to boost the page count. The only notable exception to this trend is the excellent list of answer sites given in the section on link building:

Conclusion

Not a particularly valuable eBook, the latter half is terribly formatted and makes little sense as it jumps from topic to topic, the first half is also badly written although more fact full. All of this information can be found for free on the Internet.
